Charles Girardier Laine automaton

Charles Girardier l´Aine, verge pocket watch circa 1800 with automaton scene, painted enamel dial, Swiss watchmaker.

Charles Giradier signed his watch Girardier L'Aine (the Elder). He was born in 1757 and resident in Geneva. From 1810 he worked in Paris. He was a master watchmaker and made watches with automatons and striking mechanisms. In 1792 he won a prize from the Geneva "Société des Arts" for one of his watches.
